Content or Engagement? Which one is the true King? The word on the street is that content is King.
Content, the "it girl" of marketing, is the foundation of all of our marketing messages. Content can be used as captions on social media, to create entertaining blogs, educational eBooks, how-to video and so much more.
Good content needs to connect with your audience and encourage them to engage.
On social media, the algorithm on each platform rewards you for posting content that engages with fans and followers.
Poor engagement on what you believe to be fantastic is like content a tree falling in the woods when no one is around to hear a sound.
It sounds like engagement is not only what we want but need.
So, is engagement the Queen that rules the house?
I read an article by digital strategist, Ross Simmonds, indicating it might be something else.
Your content could be fantastic, but it could be lost in the sea of other fantastic content being published - limiting your exposure and by extension, your engagement. So, is distribution therefore King?
After much thought, I concluded that they all play a role in ensuring your content is discovered. Good content, engagement and distribution are all key and work in tandem to ensure maximum visibility for your brand.
